Dudley Vision Project Updates

Roxbury Innovation Center

The Roxbury Innovation Center RFI process concluded with a Discussion Forum on September 15, 2014, held at the Orchard Gardens K-8 School on Albany St.  The City had received 16 Statements of Interest from Respondents individuals, non-profit corp.s, university representatives, consultants, and concerned citizens.  The Discussion Forum afforded the Respondents to present abstracts from their Statements of Interest to a crowd of about 50.  Following the presentations, the Respondents broke out into groups for more focused discussions on ideas that could help inform the upcoming Request for Proposals.

Property Manager RFP for the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building

The City of Boston recently received proposals from four firms interested in securing a contract for property management for the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building:

  • NAI Hunneman,  Congress Street, Boston
  • Long Bay Management, Blue Hill Ave., Dorchester
  • Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), One Post Office Square, Boston
  • Owens, Renz & Lee, Summit Place, Branford, Connecticut

The proposals are currently being reviewed by the City of Boston.

Construction Progress of the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building

The project is nearing substantial completion, expected in December 2014

Former B-2 Police Station Demolition

The demolition of the B-2 Police Station is underway and is being performed by S&R Corporation from Lowell. All utilities have been disconnected and confirmed safe by the local jurisdictional authority. Due to some unforeseen additional hazardous material, waterproofing materials with minor amounts of asbestos, additional applications for permit to DEP has delayed the final completion. It is expected that the completion of work is now scheduled for 10/31/14.

Parcel 9 Development — Melnea Hotel & Residences

Still working through final funding issues, but will be commencing sitework soon.

Parcel 10 Development — Madison Tropical

Questions about construction wages (prevailing wage issues).

 Advisory Task Force & Stakeholder Q & A

There was a discussion of the general state of job opportunities in construction trades, and opportunities for women and minority-owned enterprises, with suggestions to improve access to the trade unions for minorities.
